Education and Outreach

Mission

Our mission is to educate St. George parishioners and the local community about the Orthodox faith and the resulting Christian manner of living.  We work closely with the other organizations at St. George to educate the community through worship, catechism, service, witness and fellowship

Activities

St. George Church School

The St. George Church School holds classes every Sunday beginning the Sunday after Labor Day and ending in mid-May.  For an up-to-date schedule, including class times, please see the calendar.

Teachers

  • Preschool – Amanda Florian and Briana Weiland
  • Kindergarten – 3rd Grade:  Christy Chuba and Shelia Shaheen
  • 4th – 6th Grade:  Maribeth Ellias and Miffie Rusnak
  • 7th – 9th Grade:  Angie Mitas and Tony Marsilli
  • 10th – 12th Grade:  Christian Bowser, Renee Gillam and Maggie Kanaan

Activities

  • Education:  Weekly catechism; Future – Vacation Church School
  • Worship:  Participation in the church services
  • Service:  Cook/Serve breakfast for annual meeting; Salvation Army Christmas project; Valentines for shut-ins; Food for Hungry collection program; help with missions, food bank and bagged lunches for the homeless
  • Witness:  Teen Month, Nativity Play, Creative Arts projects
  • Fellowship:  Liturgy in the Park, SOYO activities; participation in Orthodox camps and retreats
