Come and See

The second Sunday of Great Lent is called the “Sunday of Orthodoxy.”

Iconography is an important element of our Orthodox church because each icon is a visual image of Christ, his Gospel or his saints.  An icon is often referred to as a “Window to Heaven.”

On the Sunday of Orthodoxy we remember the Seventh Ecumenical Council and the restoration of icons to the Church, as well as the unity of our Orthodox beliefs and faith.

After Liturgy, the church school children follow the clergy and altar servers in procession, each holding an icon of a favorite saint or story that guide and remind us about the Christian lives we are called to live.
