Sunday of Orthodoxy

On Sunday, March 4th — the first Sunday of Lent — we celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy.  After Liturgy, we commemorated the decision of the Seventh Ecumenical Council in 787 A.D. upholding the use of holy icons in Orthodox worship.

Later that afternoon, in a unity of Orthodox belief and oneness in faith, we joined parishioners and clergy from Orthodox churches from various jurisdictions throughout Pittsburgh for presentations, iconography displays, fellowship, lenten meals, and Vespers at St. George in Pittsburgh (Oakland).
